Autumn Collection 2025: ALL ABOUT WATER

Mimi Seton spent much of her childhood in a progressive boarding school located on an organic farm in the Adirondack Mountains, where visionary educators nurtured her life-long love of the natural world which inspires much of her work. She has an improvisational personality and immortal curiosity that inspire her to move quickly through different mediums to fulfill different intentions. Whether celebrating the pure aesthetics of line, color and form or making challenging commentaries on the psychological damage wrought by patriarchy, Seton is known for her unusually mutable approach to life and her voracious appetite for change.

Currently she is working in the following ways:

1) Abstract paintings and mixed media pieces, inspired by earth, air, water and fire

2) Surface Designs created from photos and paintings of plants, modified digitally.

3) Portraits of women

4) Candid black and white photo portraits of ordinary people in moments of intense emotion

5) Photos of ordinary rocks, dirt, sidewalks etc. - digitally modified

6) Pen and pencil drawings, satirizing modern life

7) Paintings of angels, gods and goddesses

8) Doodles of faces seen through the hallucinations of *pareidolia

• the psychological phenomenon where people perceive a meaningful image in a random visual pattern

  (like cloud formations). This is not a mental disorder but a natural impulse of the brain to make patterns.
